The Twelves are a DJ/remix duo from Rio de Janeiro. Having remixed artists like The Black Kids, Radiohead, Theatre of Disco and M.I.A. to wonderful effect, they’ve released two 30 minute mixtapes, the most recent “Episode II” has been receiving constant repeat attention on my new ‘nanochromatic‘ nano. Their sound is just groovy, more disco/lounge than banging electro, yet some of the catchiest dance tunes I’ve heard. My favorite track in the new mix is their Virgins remix of “Rich Girls,” which leads so nicely into Daft Punk’s Voyager. Some of my friends are big fans of the L Word and as a result, I’m unashamed to admit I’ve become one too. Leisha Hailey plays Alice Pieszecki on the show, the witty gossip radio host. She is also one half of Uh Huh Her, a female electro/pop duo from LA that’s had music featured on the show. They’ve just released their first full length, Common Reaction, which is available on Aime St. for $4.84 (also check out the series of interviews they did).
They’re playing the Fillmore on Nov. 11th, and after their last show at Bottom of the Hill I’m excited to see them again.
Common Reaction has some great new songs and my favorite from their I See Red EP, “Explode.” Hopefully we’ll see a lot of remixes; I might even take a stab.

My buddies at UCSB have started their own clothing line called IV Garb, “IV” being short for Isla Vista, the slum of a college beach town they call home. Their shirt designs are sick, and have been sported by the likes of Steve Aoki, who then bought a design and used it for an official Dim Mak shirt. Dim Mak hasn’t exactly paid my friends yet, so I suggest you buy the original design for $10 as opposed to the Dim Mak one for $30…you’ll look way cooler while supporting my buddies’ alcohol consumption sticking it to the man!
This is a quick mix I decided to brand as the first in a series of promos for the IV Garb Fall Lineup, for which we’ll be throwing a large party & show when it’s out!
